Micah Parsons’ Contract Dispute Escalates with Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons’ contract issues intensified during the preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons. Observers noted Parsons lying on a medical table without his jersey, prompting questions about his commitment amid a reported desire to be traded. Following criticisms from the media, Parsons took to social media to clarify, stating that perceptions can be misleading and emphasizing his respect for his teammates fighting on the field.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer addressed the incident post-game, admitting he was unaware of Parsons’ actions during the match but committed to understanding the situation. He promised an internal review of what transpired.
Earlier this month, Parsons expressed a wish to leave Dallas, stemming from misunderstandings around contract negotiations with owner Jerry Jones. While Jones communicated with Parsons directly in the offseason, Parsons felt these were informal talks rather than negotiations meant for his agent.
Drafted 12th overall in 2021, Parsons quickly established himself as a key player, recording 52.5 sacks and achieving Pro Bowl status each season. Despite contract tensions, Schottenheimer remains optimistic about Parsons’ availability for Week 1.
