Darrelle Revis Criticizes Jerry Jones, Urges NFLPA Action
In a bold statement, Hall of Fame cornerback Darrelle Revis called out Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) for their handling of contract negotiations, following an incident involving superstar Micah Parsons. Revis took issue with Jones attempting to negotiate directly with Parsons without the presence of his agent, David Mulugheta, which he claims violates the league’s collective bargaining agreement.
Revis asserted that Jones’s actions showcase a troubling level of disrespect towards the union and urged the NFLPA to take a stand against such behavior. He emphasized that while pursuing a grievance may not be the most effective route, it is imperative for the union to voice disapproval of Jones’s tactics. Revis stressed that players are held accountable for their actions in front of the media and should expect the same accountability from union leadership.
"The bigger issue is respect," Revis stated. He urged the NFLPA to communicate clearly that negotiations with players should always involve their agents and the union. Noting that inaction sends a message of weakness, he stated, "Every player — past, present, and future — deserves a union they can trust to protect and support them."
Revis’s strong words come as the NFLPA gears up for upcoming CBA negotiations. He believes it is essential for the union to demonstrate that disrespect from ownership will not be tolerated, especially as they seek to maintain fair treatment for all players. As public scrutiny heightens, the pressure is on the NFLPA to reaffirm its commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of the players it represents.
