BALTIMORE, MD — In a spectacular display of talent, Red Sox rookie Roman Anthony slugged a leadoff home run during Monday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles, making history as the youngest player in the franchise to achieve this feat at just 21 years and 104 days old. He surpassed Hall of Famer Bobby Doerr, who previously held the record at 21 years and 116 days old.

The powerful hit came off Orioles starter Tomoyuki Sugano and helped set the tone for the Red Sox’s 4-3 comeback win. In addition to his record-breaking home run, Anthony contributed significantly to the game with two hits and two runs scored. His performance continues to impress, as he has now hit four home runs in his last 13 games, raising his season stats to a batting average of .283, a .396 on-base percentage, and a total of six home runs, 18 doubles, 28 RBIs, alongside 44 runs scored over 63 games.

Anthony, who joined the team in June, has shown a mature and composed demeanor throughout his rookie campaign. He acknowledged the significance of his latest milestone, saying, “It’s pretty cool,” while maintaining his focus on the team’s success rather than personal accolades. With a blend of youthful energy and veteran savvy, he feels right at home among his teammates.

As the Red Sox continue to make strides in the season, Anthony’s efforts solidify his status as a prominent emerging star, drawing parallels to the legends of the game.
