Local News: Dramatic Traffic Stop Leads to Multiple Charges for Boston Worker
In a controversial traffic stop in South Boston, State Trooper Matthew Hickey dove headfirst into a vehicle’s window while apprehending 25-year-old city employee Nasiru Ibrahim, who now faces a dozen charges, including possession of a machine gun and assault against an officer. The incident, sparked by alleged tinted windows, escalated rapidly. According to police reports, Ibrahim exhibited unusual behavior and fumbled with a backpack containing nothing significant.
As tensions rose, he attempted to drive away, leading Hickey to enter the vehicle to prevent escape. The encounter, captured on the trooper’s body camera, includes moments where Hickey warns Ibrahim, saying, "you’re going to make this worse." The struggle concluded with Hickey using a taser on Ibrahim, who reportedly then aimed the taser back at the officer.
Ibrahim was placed on administrative leave following the allegations, with a spokesperson for the City of Boston confirming the action. His attorney, Peter Marano, criticized the aggressive tactics, asserting that the initial stop for a minor violation lacked constitutional grounding. Ibrahim pleaded not guilty and remains in custody.
The Massachusetts State Police have redirected inquiries to prosecutors, who have yet to comment.
