Ceddanne Rafaela’s Heroics Propel Red Sox to Victory Over Orioles
In a dramatic turn of events, Ceddanne Rafaela redeemed a rocky night by delivering a two-run home run in the top of the ninth, leading the Boston Red Sox to a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. Despite early missteps, including a diving missed catch that allowed an RBI double and a lapse in communication on a deep fly ball, Rafaela kept his composure.
Boston’s offense was slow to start, with Roman Anthony hitting a solo home run for the only run through the game’s first seven innings. Pitcher Brayan Bello had another impressive outing, allowing just one earned run over 6.2 innings while striking out six batters. The Red Sox faced a tense moment in the eighth but managed to rally in the ninth.
With Jarren Duran on base, Rafaela seized the moment, smashing a homer off left-hander Keegan Akin, giving Boston a one-run lead. All-Star closer Aroldis Chapman then secured the win, striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth. The Red Sox improved to 74-60, poised for a series sweep against the Orioles.
