In a thrilling start to the second quarter, the Netherlands made a strong comeback in the women’s basketball final against the USA, with the USA leading 20-17. In the para powerlifting event, Hani Watson impressed with a lift of 133kg, while the Netherlands’ Ashley Dyce led in the over 86kg category with a lift of 110kg.
The USA had a strong lead of 12-8 after the first quarter, with the Netherlands struggling to convert their shots. However, the Dutch team seemed to be feeling the pressure as they missed several scoring opportunities.
In the men’s VL3 Va’a single 200m final, Ukraine’s Vladyslav Yepifanov clinched gold by setting a Paralympic record. Jack Eyers of Great Britain, a former model turned medalist, also had a strong performance in the event.
Laura Sugar of Great Britain won gold in the women’s KL3 kayak single 200m with a Paralympic Games record time. She was followed by Nelia Barbosa of France, who clinched silver, and Felicia Laberer of Germany, who took bronze.
As the Paralympic Games come to a close, fans are encouraged to enjoy the remaining events, including two more canoeing finals and the final of the women’s wheelchair basketball between the Netherlands and the USA. The closing ceremony is scheduled for the evening, bringing an end to the exciting two weeks of competition.
