Winners in New Jersey have one year to claim their prizes. The odds of winning the jackpot are more than 302 million to one, with overall odds of winning any prize at 1 in 24.
Tickets for the Mega Millions are sold in 45 states, Washington, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with drawings taking place in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. Each ticket costs $2, with half of the proceeds remaining in the state where the ticket was sold.
The record for the largest Mega Millions jackpot stands at $1.6 billion and was sold in Florida in August of the previous year.
