Mega Millions jackpot surges to a projected $800 million

The Mega Millions jackpot has skyrocketed to an estimated $800 million with a cash option of $401.8 million for the upcoming Tuesday drawing. This comes after no one matched all the winning numbers in Friday night’s draw. The last jackpot was claimed in Illinois on June 4, valued at $552 million.

So far, only two Mega Millions jackpots have been won this year, with the most recent being a $1.1 billion win in New Jersey in March, which remains unclaimed. Winners in New Jersey have one year to claim their prizes. The odds of winning the jackpot are more than 302 million to one, with overall odds of winning any prize at 1 in 24.

Tickets for the Mega Millions are sold in 45 states, Washington, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with drawings taking place in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. Each ticket costs $2, with half of the proceeds remaining in the state where the ticket was sold.

The record for the largest Mega Millions jackpot stands at $1.6 billion and was sold in Florida in August of the previous year. As anticipation builds for the $800 million jackpot, many are eager to see if this will be the next big win. Fans of the game can purchase their tickets and try their luck in the upcoming draw.
