In a much-needed breakout performance, Rob Refsnyder led the Boston Red Sox to a 12-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park on Monday. Refsnyder, who had been struggling with a .176 batting average, went 4-for-4 with two home runs and a career-high five RBIs. He and teammate Tyler O’Neill hit back-to-back homers twice during the game, helping to secure the win.
Refsnyder’s first homer in the third inning traveled 412 feet to center field, while O’Neill followed with a 371-foot shot over the Green Monster. Refsnyder’s second homer wrapped around Pesky’s Pole, followed by another impressive 422-foot blast from O’Neill. The duo’s power hitting provided a necessary spark for the Red Sox offense.
The game also saw contributions from Cedanne Rafaela, who had a two-run single in the sixth inning and a two-run double in the seventh to further extend Boston’s lead. Pitcher Brayan Bello, despite giving up two runs and five walks, pitched 5 ⅓ solid innings and left the game with the lead intact.
Looking ahead, the Red Sox will face the Orioles again on Tuesday, with Kutter Crawford set to start for Boston against Baltimore’s Albert Suárez. Suárez, who shut out the Red Sox in their last meeting, will pose a formidable challenge for Crawford and the Red Sox as they aim to continue their winning streak.
