Map shows decline in air quality due to wildfires in Nevada, Arizona, California

Large wildfires in the West are causing dangerous air quality in Nevada and California. The Davis Fire near Reno, as well as the Line, Bridge, and Airport fires east of Los Angeles, are contributing to poor air quality in the region. Mesquite, Nevada and Scenic, Arizona have particularly high air quality index numbers, with Mesquite reaching a “very unhealthy” level of 225. The index ranges from 0 to 301, with lower numbers indicating cleaner air. Other areas, such as Reno and Boulder City, are also experiencing unhealthy air quality due to the wildfires. In Las Vegas, the air quality index ranged between 130 and 170, which is considered unhealthy. The National Weather Service in Las Vegas reports that ash falling from the sky is exacerbating conditions in Southern California. Overall, the wildfires are impacting air quality across the United States.
