After being sidelined for over two months with an ankle injury, soccer superstar Lionel Messi is set to make his return to Inter Miami for their upcoming MLS game against Philadelphia. The Argentina star has been out of action since spraining his ankle in July during the Copa America final. Coach Gerardo Martino confirmed that Messi has returned to training and will be available for selection on Saturday.
Martino expressed his excitement at having the best player in the world back in the team, stating that Messi is fit and ready to play. Despite missing eight MLS games and World Cup qualifiers for Argentina, Messi has still managed to contribute 12 goals and 13 assists in just 12 matches this season, making him the fastest player in league history to reach 25 goal contributions.
Inter Miami is currently close to securing the Supporters’ Shield and the top playoff seed in the Eastern Conference with 59 points from 27 games. The return of Messi will only strengthen their chances of success as they compete for the top spot in the league.
