In her new book, “You Must Stand Up: The Fight for Abortion Rights in Post-Dobbs America,” journalist Amanda Becker provides an account of the chaos that ensued following the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
Becker shadows doctors, activists, and others around the country as they navigate the reversal of Roe v. Wade, describing it as a “major political realignment.” She discusses the impact of abortion on the current election cycle and highlights the importance of the issue among voters, especially women under 45.
The book follows individuals in various states, including Alabama, Arizona, Maryland, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and Kentucky, showcasing the different challenges they face in accessing and providing abortion care. “You Must Stand Up” is set to be released on Tuesday, with Becker scheduled to speak at Politics and Prose on Friday and People’s Book on September 19. The book offers a timely and insightful look at the fight for abortion rights in a changing political landscape.
