Rescuers in Yellowstone National Park are searching for 22-year-old park employee Austin King, who went missing after failing to return from a solo hike to summit Eagle Peak. King was last heard from on September 17 when he called from the mountain, where he described fog, rain, sleet, hail, and wind. Despite a search effort involving aerial reconnaissance, ground operations, helicopters, unmanned air systems, and search dogs, King has not been found as of Tuesday. His camp and personal effects were discovered, leading to a larger operation on Sunday involving 20 ground searchers. The park service is asking for information from other hikers who may have seen King. King, who is a concession worker at Yellowstone, was dropped off at Yellowstone Lake on September 14 for a 7-day hike. He spoke to a park ranger at Howell Creek cabin on his route before disappearing. The search efforts are focused around Eagle Peak and the surrounding area. The National Park Service has circulated a missing person flier with King’s information and photos. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Yellowstone Interagency Communications Center.
