The Westfield Kiwanis Club is urgently seeking volunteers to help feed thousands of hungry children and their families in Western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut. On Saturday, club members will be assembling bags of rice, beans, dehydrated vegetables, and seasonings to feed 10,000 people. The club needs 60 volunteers over the age of 16 to assist with this massive effort.
Volunteers will be briefed on proper sanitary practices before beginning the assembly line process of packaging the non-perishable meals. The goal is to have hundreds of pounds of ingredients packaged and boxed up to distribute to families in need.
“We are calling on the community to come together and lend a hand in this important effort to provide food to those who need it most,” said Westfield Kiwanis spokesperson Lesley Lambert. This initiative highlights the commitment of the Kiwanis Club to address food insecurity in the region and support those facing hunger.
Those interested in volunteering can contact the Westfield Kiwanis Club for more information on how to get involved. By coming together and working as a team, the club hopes to make a meaningful impact on the lives of families struggling to put food on the table.
