Celtics sign Kornet and Queta to new contracts, reports indicate

The Boston Celtics wasted no time in strengthening their frontcourt for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season. Shortly after the start of free agency, the team signed Luke Kornet to a one-year deal and also secured Neemias Queta on a multi-year contract. With Kristaps Porzingis sidelined due to ankle surgery, these proactive moves by coach Brad Stevens were crucial to bolstering the team’s frontcourt depth.

Kornet, who proved to be a valuable backup center for the Celtics last season, averaged 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 63 games. His return, along with Queta’s continued development, will be essential for the team in Porzingis’ absence. Queta, a 7-foot center, showed promise in limited minutes last season and is expected to contribute more in the upcoming campaign.

While the Celtics are limited in their ability to make additional moves in free agency due to salary cap constraints, they are set to return their full starting lineup and key bench players for the upcoming season. The team still has some decisions to make regarding free agents Xavier Tillman, Svi Mykhailiuk, and Oshae Brissett.

Overall, the Celtics are poised to make a strong push in the 2024-25 season, with Kornet and Queta providing valuable contributions in the frontcourt. Fans can expect an exciting season ahead as the team looks to compete at a high level in the Eastern Conference.
