Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are both heavily focusing on Michigan in their campaigns for the White House. Trump has been holding large rallies open to the general public, while Harris has opted for smaller, more intimate gatherings with devoted supporters. Harris has also hosted nontraditional media events in Michigan, such as virtual rallies and watch parties.
Harris has urged voters to attend Trump’s rallies to see for themselves what he offers, while she has held fewer public events in Michigan since Joe Biden exited the race. Harris’s campaign manager, Mike Frosolone, explained that the campaign strategically targets voters to attend events and then makes them public based on venue capacity. Smaller events allow Harris to engage directly with voters, while larger events spread her message widely.
In contrast, Trump has primarily held bigger public events in Michigan, but has also included smaller gatherings with invited guests. Both campaigns believe their strategies are effective in engaging voters and spreading their respective messages. As Election Day approaches, both candidates are expected to continue campaigning in Michigan, with recent instances of both holding rallies in the state on the same day. Despite differing approaches, both candidates are actively engaging with Michigan voters in the final stretch of the campaign.
