Buenos Aires City Police have conducted a raid at the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in connection to the death of Liam Payne, the former One Direction member who fell off a balcony of his third-floor hotel room on October 16. The police are seeking information on employees who were working on the day of Payne’s death as well as in the days leading up to it. The authorities are specifically looking for security camera footage and documents from the hotel’s registration books and computers.
Payne’s father, Geoff Payne, has expressed his desire to investigate and understand what happened to his son. He will remain in Argentina under police custody to assist with the investigation. The singer was found to have had a mixture of drugs in his system at the time of his death, including “pink cocaine.”
Payne’s family has released a statement expressing their heartbreak over his death and remembering him for his kind, funny, and brave soul. They are asking for privacy and space during this difficult time.
The Argentine Prosecutor’s Office, as well as authorities in Buenos Aires, are prioritizing the privacy and well-being of Payne’s family while conducting the investigation into his death. Anyone struggling with substance abuse is encouraged to seek help from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline.
