Bruins fall short against Stars: Key findings

The Boston Bruins continued to struggle with penalties and turnovers in their 5-2 loss to the Dallas Stars on Thursday. After taking an early lead with a goal from David Pastrnak, the Bruins gave up four straight goals in the middle of the game. Despite a goal from Justin Brazeau to cut the deficit to 4-2, the Bruins were unable to mount a comeback. Goaltender Jeremy Swayman made 26 saves for Boston, while Dallas’ Casey DeSmith stopped 25 shots.

Brad Marchand, who has yet to score this season, struggled once again, with two penalties and three giveaways in the game. The Bruins’ penalty kill continues to be an issue, allowing nine power-play goals this season. They have a penalty-killing percentage of 77.5, with nine of the 29 goals they’ve allowed coming while shorthanded.

The Bruins also had trouble controlling the puck, with 13 giveaways in the first period and 21 in the game. However, there was a bright spot as defenseman Nikita Zadorov snapped his seven-game streak of penalty box visits.

Next, the Bruins will host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, looking to bounce back from their recent slide.
