The long-term impacts of Israel’s attacks on Gaza, including contaminated water sources, destroyed farmland, and damaged infrastructure, have led to calls for these actions to be categorized as ecocide. Gaza’s education system has also been severely affected, with schools and universities destroyed and teachers and students killed. Overall, South Africa’s case against Israel at the ICJ highlights the grave human rights violations and destruction inflicted upon the Palestinians in Gaza, calling for accountability and justice for the atrocities committed.
