Bruins Rally in Third Period to Defeat Blues 3-2
ST. LOUIS (AP) — In a thrilling comeback, the Boston Bruins secured a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night, thanks to a late goal from David Pastrnak. The Bruins scored three times in the final period after trailing 2-0 at the second intermission, with Pastrnak finding the net with just 1:47 remaining.
Pastrnak’s decisive shot from the left circle pushed past Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington, who made 27 saves throughout the match. Before Pastrnak’s late goal, Morgan Geekie and Charlie McAvoy also found the back of the net for Boston, marking a significant turnaround for the team, which had struggled with a third-period scoring deficit earlier this season.
The Blues initially took control of the game with second-period power-play goals from Brayden Schenn and Oskar Sundqvist, ending a 0-for-21 drought in man-advantage situations on home ice. However, the Bruins turned the tide with Geekie’s goal—his first since returning from a three-game healthy scratch—at 4:53 of the third period, followed by McAvoy’s equalizer at 9:15.
In a concerning moment for the Bruins, defenseman Hampus Lindholm exited the game following a lower-body injury after blocking a shot, leaving the team without one of its top defenders. Lindholm was leading in ice time for the Bruins prior to his injury.
The Bruins will look to build on this momentum in their next game against the Dallas Stars, while the Blues will embark on a challenging three-game road trip starting in Buffalo. This win marks Boston’s fourth victory in their last six outings, despite earlier struggles when trailing heading into the third period.
