Forward called up by Bruins ahead of matchup with Stars

The Boston Bruins have called up Providence Bruins captain Patrick Brown before their game against the Dallas Stars on Thursday. Brown, who was named captain of the AHL team this year, has three goals and four assists in 12 games this season. He played 11 regular season games and three playoff games in the NHL last year, and has a total of 149 career NHL games under his belt.

It is unclear whether Brown will play on Thursday or if he is providing depth for a team that is currently carrying only 12 forwards. The 32-year-old right shot-forward, who can play center or wing, has previously played for the Bruins, Senators, Flyers, Golden Knights, and Hurricanes.

Brown’s call-up follows that of defenseman Jordan Oesterle, who was called up to the team on Monday. The Bruins’ decision to bring up Brown and Oesterle may provide additional support and options for the team as they continue their season.
