A Missouri substitute teacher, Carissa Jenna Smith, is facing 19 charges, including statutory rape, after allegedly offering minors money for sex, buying them marijuana and alcohol. Smith, who is married with children, paid a child for sex, bought them drugs and alcohol, and engaged in sexual acts with them at her home. The incidents occurred while Smith was subbing in the Dixon R-I School District. The district confirmed the charges and is working with authorities and the Missouri Children’s Division. The victim stated that Smith forced them to have intercourse and paid them $130, warning them not to talk about it. Another minor mentioned in the case said Smith took them to a field, offered money and marijuana for sex acts, and forced them to drink alcohol. The victim also alleged that Smith smashed their phone once she found out about incriminating videos. The district superintendent encouraged community members to report any suspicions of misconduct by school employees and provided contact information for authorities. If anyone is affected by sexual abuse or violence, RAINN provides services via chat or phone call. Smith’s case is ongoing, and it is unclear who is representing her in court.
