The 22-year-old outfielder recently earned Eastern League Player of the Month for his outstanding performance in June. This award comes on the heels of earning Player of the Week earlier this month and being promoted to Double-A Portland from High-A Greenville.
In June, Campbell led the league in several categories including batting average, hits, on-base percentage, and OPS. He has been impressing coaches and fans alike with his combination of bat speed, power, and smart plate decisions. His impressive stats include a .406 batting average, .504 on-base percentage, and a .635 slugging percentage. Campbell has also cracked Baseball America’s Top 100 list, coming in at No. 89.
In other minor league news, pitcher Noah Dean had a standout performance for Low-A Salem, throwing 5 hitless innings with seven strikeouts. Also, top prospect Roman Anthony had a solid game for Double-A Portland, going 2-for-4 with a homer.
Hard-throwing pitching prospect Wikelman Gonzalez also impressed for Portland, throwing 3 scoreless innings. Catcher/first baseman Brooks Brannon had a good game for Low-A Salem, going 2-for-4.
