The College Football Playoff’s 12-team bracket reveal is underway, with the latest rankings from the AP Top 25 showing a tight race between Alabama and SMU. The margin between the two teams in the AP poll was just one point, with Alabama edging out SMU by that slim margin. The AP Top 25 rankings have Oregon at No. 1, followed by Georgia, Notre Dame, Texas, and Penn State rounding out the top five. If the committee were to follow the AP rankings, the matchups would be set accordingly for the playoff games. ESPN will have all-day coverage of the selections, starting with a show at noon and lasting until 7 p.m. The playoff games will begin on Dec. 20 and end on Jan. 20, with 11 games in total broadcast nationally. The seeding for the playoff is based on conference champions and the next seven highest-ranked teams. The top four seeds receive first-round byes, with the bracket set to be announced on Sunday afternoon. The selection committee is chaired by Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel, with 12 other members consisting of former coaches, players, and athletic directors.
