Jay-Z is denying the claims made in a recently amended lawsuit that alleges he and Sean “Diddy” Combs raped a 13-year-old girl at a Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000. The lawsuit, filed by a woman identified as “Jane Doe,” alleges that she was raped by both men at the afterparty, with Combs being accused of aggressively approaching her as she felt woozy from a drink, while Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, allegedly held her down and raped her. The lawsuit also claims that Combs also raped the girl while Jay-Z and an unnamed female celebrity watched.
The lawsuit further alleges that the girl was forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement before the party, hindering her from discussing the events that took place. However, Jay-Z has refuted the allegations, calling them a “blackmail attempt,” and questioning the integrity of the girl’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee. In response, Buzbee has stated that he will let the filing speak for itself and will litigate the facts in court.
Combs, who is currently facing charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. His trial is set for May 2025. The lawsuit against him and Jay-Z is the first to name another high-profile defendant and comes in the wake of several other lawsuits filed against Combs accusing him of assault and rape. The legal battle between the parties is ongoing, with both sides standing firm in their positions.
