Paul Rodriguez, comedian, taken into custody for drug possession

Legendary stand-up comedian Paul Rodriguez was arrested in Burbank, California, on charges of possession of narcotics following a traffic stop. Rodriguez’s lawyer denied the allegations, stating that they lacked foundation. The arrest occurred on Friday, March 28, when Burbank police officers conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle in which Rodriguez was a passenger and found narcotics during the investigation.

Rodriguez was released with a citation to appear in court on April 25, 2025. His lawyer, Bobby Samini, asserted that Rodriguez did not have any controlled substance in his possession and was not under the influence of any substance during the incident. Samini also claimed that Rodriguez’s arrest violated his civil rights and expressed confidence in establishing his innocence in court.

Known for his roles in television and film, Rodriguez has starred in popular productions such as “Tortilla Soup,” “Blood Work,” and voiced the character of Chico in “Beverly Hills Chihuahua.” Despite the arrest, Rodriguez remains a beloved figure in the entertainment industry for his contributions to comedy and acting. The case will now proceed to court where Rodriguez and his legal team are expected to contest the charges against him.
