Explosive Escalation: Israel and Iran Trade Strikes Amid Nuclear Tensions
DUBAI, U.A.E. (AP) — Following a dramatic surprise assault on Iranian nuclear sites that resulted in the deaths of several top Iranian generals, Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a stark warning: “Tehran will burn” if missile attacks continue. The Israeli strikes reportedly killed nine senior scientists involved in Iran’s nuclear program, while Iran claimed 78 casualties from its retaliatory drone and missile attacks on Israel, which caused explosions across major cities, including Tel Aviv.
In the chaos, three Israelis were reported dead and dozens injured, prompting army officials to advise citizens to seek shelter. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s commitment to neutralizing threats from Iran while expressing hope for an uprising against the Iranian leadership.
The U.S. and Iran’s scheduled nuclear negotiations in Oman were jeopardized by these developments, as Iranian officials condemned the Israeli actions, hinting at a withdrawal from talks. Meanwhile, the Iranian leadership threatened continued retaliation against Israeli targets, raising fears of an all-out conflict in the region.
With escalating violence and significant strategic concerns, the situation remains highly volatile as international calls for de-escalation grow louder.
