Kansas City Royals Snap Red Sox Winning Streak in 7-3 Victory
BOSTON (AP) — Jonathan India’s three-run homer and Michael Wacha’s solid pitching propelled the Kansas City Royals to a 7-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night, halting Boston’s seven-game winning streak. Wacha (6-9) allowed only two runs while striking out three, securing his second consecutive win.
The Red Sox initially led 2-0 after the first inning, but the Royals seized control in the fourth with Kyle Isbel’s two-run single. India’s powerful hit in the seventh expanded Kansas City’s lead to 6-2.
Notably, Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony, who earlier signed a massive contract extension worth at least $130 million through 2033, had a disappointing night, going hitless in four at-bats. His closest moment came in the fifth when he sent a long fly ball just shy of the wall.
Red Sox newcomer Dustin May (6-8) made his debut, pitching 3 2/3 innings with three runs allowed. The Royals will take a break before heading to Minnesota for a new series, while Boston prepares for a three-game set against the Padres in San Diego.
