Arnold Schwarzenegger Returns to Planet Hollywood, Celebrates Nostalgia with Retro Menu
Arnold Schwarzenegger has returned to his roots at the newly reopened Planet Hollywood in Midtown Manhattan, a venture he helped launch in the early 1990s. The Hollywood icon was in New York filming a holiday movie when he made a surprise appearance at the restaurant’s grand opening earlier this year and even hosted his wrap party there.
Planet Hollywood, which originally opened on West 57th Street in 1991 with endorsements from Hollywood stars like Sylvester Stallone and Demi Moore, has relocated to 136 West 42nd Street. CEO Robert Earl expressed excitement at welcoming not just the original investors but also their children. Patrick Schwarzenegger, Arnold’s son, visited to promote his burgeoning career in Hollywood, impressing Earl with his down-to-earth nature—a stark contrast to his famous lineage.
Earl has also engaged with the next generation of Hollywood royalty, chatting with Tallulah Willis as they explore potential collaborations. He mentioned plans to reach out to Stallone’s daughters, who are currently busy filming their reality show.
In a nostalgic nod to its past, Planet Hollywood has relaunched with a vintage menu featuring dishes at original 1990s price points. Guests can enjoy items like the Hollywood club and margherita pasta, with entrees priced under $10, an unusual offer for a Manhattan establishment.
This retro pricing strategy aims to attract diners and celebrate the restaurant’s 34th anniversary on October 22, accompanied by a cocktail aptly named “Hasta La Vista Baby,” paying homage to Schwarzenegger’s iconic line from “Terminator 2.” With its blend of nostalgia and modern celebrity, Planet Hollywood continues to thrive as a beloved dining destination.
