Boston Celebrates 52nd Annual Caribbean Carnival Parade
Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood came alive Saturday as the city celebrated the 52nd annual Caribbean Carnival Parade, a vibrant showcase of culture and community spirit. The festivities began at dawn with the lively J’Ouvert Parade, leading into the larger Caribbean Carnival, which wound its way down Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Warren Street, then Blue Hill Avenue, culminating in Franklin Park.
The event attracted numerous attendees, including local politicians such as incumbent Mayor Michelle Wu and mayoral challenger Josh Kraft. Mayor Wu officially kicked off the parade by cutting the ceremonial ribbon and captured the moment with a selfie alongside "Miss Shirley" Shillingford, the parade’s original organizer.
