Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Needham native Suni Williams are facing an uncertain return date to Earth after departing on what was supposed to be a week-long mission to the International Space Station more than a month ago. The two astronauts were the first to fly Boeing’s Starliner capsule and arrived at the ISS on June 6 after experiencing technical issues during the docking process.
Seven weeks later, NASA leaders have announced that ongoing issues will keep Wilmore and Williams stuck in orbit while crews on the ground work to find a solution. As of now, there is no set date for their return to Earth.
