The ATF Boston Bureau has seized a machine gun conversion device for a Glock handgun that can turn it into a machine gun when installed. The device can be printed on a 3D printer. Governor Maura Healey recently signed a new gun reform bill into law in Massachusetts, which includes stronger oversight on homemade firearms and guns made with a 3D printer, as well as an expansion of the red flag law. The NRA has announced that they will challenge the new law, calling it one of the most extreme gun control bills in the country and stating that it infringes on the rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. The bill passed with bipartisan support in the Massachusetts House and Senate, although some Democrats crossed party lines to oppose it. The new law also includes provisions to criminalize possession of firearms in government buildings and polling areas and revamp the application process for a license to carry. Governor Healey praised the new law for its focus on keeping communities safe from violence and saving lives. The NRA plans to challenge the law in order to restore what they believe are the rights of gun owners in Massachusetts.
