Boston Herald reports Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are tied in nationwide FAU poll

In a recent national Florida Atlantic University poll released Tuesday, it was reported that the contest between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump is tied, with Harris at 48% and Trump at 46% among likely voters. The results are within the margin of error, making it a statistical tie. The poll also found that among all voters, Harris and Trump are tied at 46%.

The campaign between Harris and Trump is still in flux, with Democrats showing enthusiastic support for Harris while Republicans have shifted focus from opposing Biden to opposing Harris. The poll results suggest that Harris has captured much of the Democratic base, returning the race to a dead heat.

Demographic breakdowns reveal that partisan identity plays a significant role in voter choices, with Harris receiving widespread support from Democrats and Trump from Republicans. There is also a gender gap, with Harris leading among women and Trump among men.

Despite Democrats touting Harris’ appeal to younger voters, the poll does not show a significant advantage for Harris in this demographic. Harris leads among voters 50 and older, while Trump has the edge among voters younger than 50.

The poll also included a generic question about party preferences in fall elections for the U.S. House of Representatives, with likely voters favoring Democrats over Republicans by a five-point advantage.

Overall, Harris has a net favorability rating of 9 percentage points, while Trump has a net negative rating of 1 point. Many voters had positive emotional reactions to Biden’s decision to end his reelection campaign and Harris taking his place.

The poll of 997 U.S. registered voters conducted by Mainstreet Research for FAU’s PolCom Lab has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
