Federal authorities say that the inmate who escaped from a New Hampshire hospital has been apprehended in Boston.

In an incident that unfolded on Thursday in New Hampshire, inmate Anthony Clark, 41, faced charges of violating the Fugitive Felon Act for fleeing from the Belknap County Jail in Concord. He was receiving medical treatment at Concord Hospital when he removed his electronic ankle bracelet, prompting a search and subsequent arrest by U.S. Marshals in South Boston on Friday morning.

Clark was set to appear in federal court in Concord later that day. He was originally in jail on pretrial detention for charges including assault, domestic violence, strangulation, witness tampering, and violating a protective order. He had been released to Concord Hospital for medical reasons in July, wearing the ankle bracelet to monitor his location.

However, around 10 p.m. on Sunday, the bracelet was found by a concerned resident near the hospital, triggering an investigation by Laconia Police. Footage confirmed that Clark had left the hospital around 1 a.m. that same day, setting off the device’s tamper alert. It remains unclear why the tamper alert went undetected.

The New Hampshire U.S. Attorney’s Office has yet to comment on the oversight. The Fugitive Felon Act prohibits fleeing across state lines to avoid prosecution, imprisonment, or testifying in felony cases, highlighting the severity of Clark’s actions. The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement in monitoring and controlling inmate activities.
