The Holyoke FTD Caregiver’s Support Group will be holding a virtual meeting on August 13 from 4 to 5 p.m. for caregivers of individuals with Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD). FTD is a rare brain disease and the most common form of dementia in individuals under 60 in the U.S. The group aims to provide support and education by sharing stories and emotions. Rick’s Place, a youth grief support program, offers free peer grief support groups for youth and their caregivers. Established in memory of Rick Thorpe who died in the World Trade Center on 9/11, the program provides a space for families to remember lost loved ones. To participate, email or call Rick’s Place.
NAMI Western Massachusetts will host a paint night fundraiser on August 11, a cancer support group led by Baystate Health oncology social worker, Camille St. Onge, offers various support group options, and NAMI-WM is offering online and phone support groups for mental health. The Michael J. Dias Foundation provides support for families coping with substance use disorder, while Saint Rose de Lima offers a grief support group.
The Springfield College Occupational Therapy Department hosts a stroke support group, Narcotics Anonymous offers local support groups, and Survivors of Suicide Loss provides a support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. Valley Eye Radio offers free accessible broadcast readings for those with visual challenges. All groups are open to anyone and aim to provide a supportive environment for those in need.
