Man in New York City charged with arson for throwing explosive device at Verizon van

Kevindale Nurse from Brooklyn has been charged with arson after throwing an explosive into a Verizon truck during a road rage incident, injuring several people. The incident, which occurred on January 31, was captured on surveillance video in the Crown Heights neighborhood. Nurse, who had his 4-year-old son with him during the incident, could face up to 40 years in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors are cracking down on road rage incidents, citing multiple cases where people have been killed or injured due to aggressive driving behavior. In California, two men died after an argument following a lane-splitting incident, while in Indiana, a man was killed in a fatal shooting. A woman in Massachusetts died after being intentionally struck by a driver involved in a road rage incident, and a 4-year-old girl was injured in Florida after shots were fired at a sedan.

Authorities advise the public to avoid conflict and de-escalate situations on the road to prevent tragedies like these from happening. The U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of New York is pursuing Nurse’s case vigorously.
