Born in the Bronx, New York, Washington is a Black actress known for her roles in a variety of films and TV shows, including “Django Unchained” and “Ray.” She graduated from George Washington University and is married to former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha. In her memoir, she reflects on the impact of her character Olivia Pope, who became an icon of Black excellence and representation.
The DNC began on Monday and will run through Thursday in Chicago, with Vice President Harris expected to formally accept the party’s nomination for the 2024 election. The convention will be held at the United Center, with live coverage available on the DNC website and USA TODAY’s YouTube channel.
