As summer comes to a close, students in Boston and across Massachusetts are preparing to head back to school. In Boston Public Schools, students in grades 1-12 will return on Sept. 5, while Pre-K and Kindergarten students will start on Sept. 9. Two schools, Up Academy Dorchester and Holland, will return on Aug. 29. Teachers will report to work on Sept. 3, a few days before the students.
Families are encouraged to download the ParentSquare app for school communications and the Zum app or call the Transportation Hotline for bus information. More details on back-to-school preparation can be found on the BPS website.
Other Greater Boston school districts have varying start dates for the new school year. Arlington, Braintree, Brookline, Cambridge, Canton, Chelsea, Everett, Framingham, Lynn, Malden, Medford, Newton, Quincy, Revere, Salem, Somerville, and Waltham all have different start dates for grades 1-12, Pre-K, and Kindergarten.
Parents and students are advised to check their specific school district’s website for more information on back-to-school dates and preparation. With summer coming to a close, it’s time for students to get back into the swing of things and start another school year.
