Six Patriots players missing from practice following roster cuts, seven players return to practice squad.

The New England Patriots faced a few absences during their first practice following the team’s cutdown to the 53-man roster. Key players like Vederian Lowe, Sidy Sow, Jalen Reagor, and others were missing from the lineup due to various injuries or cuts to make room for new acquisitions.

Sow and Lowe were sidelined with injuries, with Sow reportedly suffering from an ankle issue while Lowe was dealing with a lower back problem. Linebackers Joshua Uche and Christian Elliss were also absent due to injuries sustained during recent games. Additionally, Reagor and Isaiah Bolden were cut from the team to accommodate new signings, including offensive tackles Demontrey Jacobs and Zachary Thomas, defensive tackle Eric Johnson, and linebacker Curtis Jacobs.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the starting quarterback position for Week 1, veteran Jacoby Brissett continues to receive first-team reps during practice. Brissett even switched back to his original jersey number, hinting at a potential role as the team’s starting quarterback.

The Patriots also re-signed seven players to the practice squad and still have additional openings, including an international exemption for Australian player Jotham Russell. The team will continue to prepare for the upcoming season with more practices before taking a break over the holiday weekend.
