Former Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe has been waived and has signed on with the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad. The Patriots are sticking with three quarterbacks on their roster, with Jacoby Brissett and Drake Maye battling for the starting spot. Coach Jerod Mayo praised Zappe’s professionalism but believes the other quarterbacks on the roster have more potential. Zappe started eight games for the Patriots and has 2,053 career passing yards. The Patriots also made changes to their practice squad and roster, signing seven new players and releasing four others. They picked up linebacker Curtis Jacobs, offensive tackle Demontrey Jacobs, defensive tackle Eric Johnson, and offensive tackle Zach Thomas. The team released cornerback Isaiah Bolden, defensive lineman Tristen Hill, offensive lineman Michael Jordan, and wide receiver Jalen Reagor. Zappe’s departure marks a new chapter for him in Kansas City, where he will have the opportunity for a fresh start with the defending champion Chiefs. The Patriots are gearing up for an exciting season with their new roster additions and the upcoming announcement of their starting quarterback.
