Minnesota Governor and vice presidential hopeful Tim Walz made an appearance in Boston this week, speaking at the International Association of Fire Fighters Convention. He highlighted the importance of first responders and discussed labor policies along with Vice President Kamala Harris. During his speech, Walz called out former President Donald Trump’s connection to Project 2025.
The convention in Boston is an event for one of the largest labor unions in North America, representing nearly 350,000 firefighters, emergency medical workers, and rescue workers in the U.S. and Canada. Attendees of the convention vote on resolutions and constitutional amendments.
Walz emphasized his commitment to supporting unions and first responders, stating that unions are the purest form of democracy. He pledged that if elected, Harris would sign the Protecting the Right to Organize Act and protect the important Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grants program.
Additionally, Walz criticized Donald Trump’s claims regarding Project 2025, a political plan proposing significant changes to the government. Despite Trump’s denials of knowledge about the plan, Walz warned that it would be utilized if Trump were to be re-elected. He and Harris oppose government interference in health care choices and advocate for fair wages, safe working conditions, good health care, and secure retirement as part of their labor policy plans.
Tim Walz’s appearance in Boston underscores his dedication to supporting unions, first responders, and labor policy reforms if elected as vice president of the United States.
