Real Salt Lake Defeats Revolution in Shutout Victory

Sandy, Utah – The New England Revolution suffered a 2-0 defeat against Real Salt Lake at America First Field on Saturday night. Despite an impressive performance by goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič, who made six crucial saves in the first half, RSL managed to score a goal on either side of halftime to secure the win.

Ivačič’s heroics in the first half kept the Revolution in the game, denying several scoring opportunities from RSL. Emmanuel Boateng came close to giving New England the lead, but the Salt Lake defense managed to thwart the chance. However, RSL forward Anderson Julio broke the deadlock just before halftime with a goal.

In the second half, Real Salt Lake continued to press and ultimately doubled their lead through a deflected shot from Philip Quinton. Despite head coach Caleb Porter making offensive substitutions, including Giacomo Vrioni and Ian Harkes at halftime, the Revolution couldn’t find a way back into the game.

Luca Langoni also made his second appearance for the Revolution after coming on as a substitute. The loss sees New England’s record drop to 8-15-2 for the season, while Real Salt Lake improves to 13-6-8. The Revolution will look to bounce back in their next match as they aim to secure a spot in the playoffs.
