Father of teenager arrested in connection with Georgia high school shooting

The father of the 14-year-old suspected in the Georgia school shooting has been arrested in connection to the incident, according to the Georgia bureau of investigation. Colin Gray, 54, the father of Colt Gray, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree murder, and cruelty to children for allowing his son to possess an assault-style rifle that was used in the shooting at Apalachee High School. The shooting resulted in the deaths of two students and two teachers, with several others injured but expected to make a full recovery.

During a news conference, Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith expressed heartbreak over the tragic event, calling it an evil act that had a significant impact on the community. The teenage suspect has been charged as an adult in the deaths of the victims, while Colin Gray is being held at the Barrow County Detention Center.

More than a year prior to the shooting, the alleged shooter was interviewed by Georgia police following tips about online posts threatening a school shooting. However, at that time, police did not have enough evidence to arrest him, according to the Georgia bureau of investigation.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community and raised questions about gun violence and parental responsibility. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to understand the events leading up to the tragic shooting and prevent similar incidents in the future.
