California teenager Mason Padilla is crowned the winner of the 2024 USA Mullet Championship

Mason Padilla, a 13-year-old from Northern California, won the USA Mullet Championships in the teen category with his “West Coast Wave” mullet. He has been competing in the competition since 2019 and credits his dedication and perseverance for his win. The competition featured contestants in three categories – kids, teens, and adults – with Mason taking home a cash prize, a GoPro camera, and a championship belt. His mullet journey began with inspiration from the movie “Joe Dirt” in 2019.

Mason, who lives in Fremont with his family, plans to trim his locks and donate them to Wigs for Kids, a non-profit organization that provides hair to children experiencing hair loss. Despite facing some criticism, Mason encourages others to stick to what they love and not worry about what others think.

In the adult category, Todd Grubb from Michigan won the top prize, while Kamden Cunningham from Pennsylvania won in the kids division. Both contestants received a cash prize and a championship belt. Mason’s success in the competition has brought him recognition from various organizations, including the San Francisco Giants and the Savannah Bananas baseball team.

Overall, the USA Mullet Championships brought together hundreds of contestants showcasing an array of hairstyles, each unique and creative in its own way. The winners, including Mason Padilla, have shown that dedication and passion can lead to success, even in the world of mullet competitions.
