The Massachusetts state primary election is quickly approaching, set for September 3rd. As the date draws near, voters in the Greater Fall River area are taking a closer look at the candidates who will be vying for various positions.

In Fall River, voters will have the opportunity to choose candidates for mayor, city council, school committee, and other local offices. In the mayoral race, incumbent Mayor Jasiel Correia will face off against challenger Paul Coogan. Correia is seeking re-election despite facing federal charges related to fraud and extortion, while Coogan is a former teacher and administrator in the Fall River school system.

For city council, there are 19 candidates running for nine seats, including several incumbents and newcomers. On the school committee side, there are 13 candidates running for seven seats, with a mix of incumbents and challengers.

In addition to the local races, voters will also be casting their ballots in statewide races, including the hotly contested race for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. Incumbent Senator Ed Markey is facing a primary challenge from Congressman Joe Kennedy III, with both candidates actively campaigning across the state.

As the primary election nears, candidates are ramping up their campaign efforts, reaching out to voters through social media, mailers, and in-person events. With so many races and candidates on the ballot, voters in Greater Fall River will have a lot to consider when they head to the polls on September 3rd.
