Vanna White Reflects on Friendship with Pat Sajak Post-Wheel of Fortune Departure
Vanna White, the iconic letter-turner of "Wheel of Fortune," has reaffirmed her enduring friendship with Pat Sajak, who stepped down as host in June 2024 after an impressive 41 years. In a recent interview at Hulu’s Get Real event, White, 68, shared, “We’re friends. We have dinner! Yeah, he’s still in my life,” emphasizing that their bond remains strong even after Sajak’s retirement.
White, who joined the show in 1982, described their relationship as “comfortable,” noting, “It’s like slipping into something very comfortable.” However, she admitted she initially felt uneasy about Sajak’s exit, expressing her sadness and uncertainty about the future: “It was ending an unbelievable era!”
As Ryan Seacrest gears up to host starting September 2024, White expressed confidence in his abilities, stating, “Ryan did his homework… he said, ‘I am not replacing Pat Sajak because no one could – ever.’” This sentiment reassured her, as she highlighted Seacrest’s respectful approach to stepping into Sajak’s shoes.
Reflecting on Sajak’s retirement announcement, White recalled her surprise and uncertainty about her own future: “Oh my gosh. I’m not sure that I’m ready to retire.” She affirmed her love for her job, revealing her enthusiasm to continue.
The duo’s latest adventures include filming segments in Hawaii for "Celebrity Wheel of Fortune," where White teased that they had a wonderful time, playfully recalling Sajak’s antics. As the new season premieres on April 30, fans can look forward to seeing the beloved pair back together on screen once again.
