New England Revolution Discuss Proposed Stadium in Everett
Everett, MA – Robert and Jonathan Kraft joined Revolution leadership at a community meeting to discuss plans for a new soccer stadium on the city’s waterfront. The stadium project, aimed at revitalizing the area, has garnered mixed reactions from local residents.
Kraft addressed concerns about the team’s potential relocation, revealing that external parties had approached him about moving the Revolution before Mayor Carlo DeMaria suggested the Everett site. “We want to be here in this state, and do something really cool,” Kraft emphasized, expressing gratitude to DeMaria for advocating for the community’s best interests.
The proposed stadium, estimated to hold 23,000 to 25,000 fans, will be privately funded, with Kraft assuring residents that no public financing would be involved. The site currently houses a decommissioned power plant, necessitating an extensive rehabilitation process.
Community feedback recognized the stadium’s potential economic benefits, yet many residents expressed hesitations regarding infrastructure upgrades and project costs. The Krafts aim to foster a collaborative relationship with Everett, as they navigate the complex permitting and community impact agreements required by both Everett and Boston.
