Celtics Guard Jrue Holiday’s Status Uncertain Ahead of Knicks Series
BOSTON – As the Boston Celtics prepare to face the New York Knicks in the second round of the playoffs, the status of guard Jrue Holiday remains precarious. The 34-year-old has been sidelined with a right hamstring strain, missing the last three games of Boston’s first-round series against the Orlando Magic.
Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla offered a cautious update on Holiday’s condition, stating, “Yeah, day to day. He’s getting better every day. He’s working hard to come back as quickly as possible.” Holiday played 36 minutes during the Celtics’ Game 2 win over Orlando but was listed as questionable ahead of Game 3 and subsequently ruled out for Games 4 and 5.
With the Celtics set to host the Knicks on Monday night, Holiday will have had nearly two weeks of rest. His defensive prowess will be critical against New York’s Jalen Brunson, who has highlighted Holiday as one of the toughest defenders he’s faced this season.
Off the court, Holiday recently received the NBA Sportsmanship Award, with teammate Derrick White praising his character and influence within the team. The Celtics will release their injury report on Sunday ahead of Game 1.
