Ambassador Vinay Kwatra Underscores India’s Stance on Kashmir During CNN Interview
New Delhi: In a recent live interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Indian Ambassador to the United States Vinay Kwatra clarified India’s position on Kashmir, asserting that the entire region is an integral part of India. Kwatra quickly corrected Blitzer’s reference to parts of Kashmir as "Indian-administered," stating, "The only issue to be resolved is the return of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir."
The discussion arose amidst reports of explosions in the region. While Kwatra acknowledged India’s awareness of the situation, he stated that details regarding the operational aspects were not available. He also condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 26 individuals, calling it "the most heinous terrorist act." He emphasized that India’s primary goal is to hold the perpetrators accountable.
Kwatra launched a strong denunciation of Pakistan, alleging its support for terrorism. "Pakistan has again decided to stand with the terrorists," he remarked, suggesting that the country is complicit in the rise of violence rather than taking action against it. His comments came shortly after India executed Operation Sindoor, targeting terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which reportedly resulted in over 100 terrorist fatalities.
In addressing concerns over potential nuclear escalation between India and Pakistan, Kwatra redirected the focus to Pakistan’s ongoing support for terrorism, emphasizing that this remains the pressing issue at hand. He criticized Pakistan’s history of denial regarding its involvement in terrorist activities, stating, "Denial and obfuscation have always been the first part of Pakistan’s strategy."
Ambassador Kwatra’s remarks reflect India’s steadfast commitment to combating terrorism and its insistence on the sovereignty of Kashmir as an indivisible part of India.
