FOXBOROUGH – Health Scare Keeps Patriots Defensive Coordinator Terrell Williams Away from Team
Patriots defensive coordinator Terrell Williams addressed local reporters via Zoom on Friday, shedding light on his recent absence from the team due to a “medical scare.” While he refrained from divulging specific details, he reassured fans that he is “doing okay” and remains connected to the team despite his physical absence.
Williams, who returned to Detroit for spring break, emphasized the serious nature of his health scare, calling it "traumatic." Following medical advice, he has been staying in Detroit, which he described as a wake-up call to prioritize health. “Sometimes we think we’re invincible, and we’re not,” he reflected, noting the scare allowed him to appreciate and reflect on relationships that matter most in his life.
He expressed gratitude toward the medical staff in Detroit, as well as the Patriots organization and his defensive staff for their unwavering support, especially head coach Mike Vrabel. “Vrabes has been unbelievable. I talk to him at least once a day,” Williams said. While he couldn’t provide a timetable for his return, he is hopeful to rejoin the team in Foxborough soon.
