Legoland Shanghai Opens with Dazzling Attractions and a Giant Lego Figure
Shanghai, China – A massive 26-meter (85-foot) Lego figure named Dada welcomed guests at the opening of the highly anticipated Legoland resort in Shanghai, the first of its kind in China. Launched on Saturday, Legoland Shanghai is now one of 11 parks worldwide, meticulously constructed with an astonishing 85 million Lego bricks.
Among the resort’s standout attractions is Miniland, a dazzling area that replicates famous global landmarks using Lego creations. Visitors can admire well-known sights from China, such as Beijing’s iconic Temple of Heaven and the picturesque Bund waterfront in Shanghai. The resort also features a charming boat tour that navigates through a historic Chinese water town, all crafted from Lego.
Lego enthusiasts flocked to the opening day, with local fan Ji Yujia expressing her delight, stating, “My first impression is it is a good recreation, like a real fairyland of Lego.”
Developed in collaboration with the Shanghai government, Legoland Shanghai is a product of the partnership between Merlin Entertainments and the LEGO Group. Guests were welcomed with vibrant performances featuring beloved Legoland characters, making the opening experience even more enchanting.
Ticket prices range from $44 (319 yuan) to $84 (599 yuan), providing access to a whimsical world of fun and creativity. The resort’s opening aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance family entertainment in China, setting the stage for a new era of amusement experiences.
Additionally, Master Model Builders from the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Melbourne collaborated with international talent to create special scenes celebrating the upcoming 2024 Paris Games, showcasing Lego’s global appeal and creative spirit.
